Are you wanting to learn about the common native plants and animals of the Wenatchee Valley? A newly published pocket naturalist guide can get you started learning about native Wenatchee Valley trees, shrubs, wildflowers, reptiles, amphibians, insects, birds, and mammals.
It is light-weight, waterproof, and folds to fit into a pocket. it is available for purchase ($8.95) in Wenatchee at the Wenatchee Valley Chamber of Commerce, downtown Arlberg Sports, Pybus Market Info Booth, and at Wild Birds Unlimited. It makes a great gift for upcoming Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, and graduations.
The guide is partnership project of the Wenatchee Naturalist program, Chelan-Douglas Land Trust, and the Greater Wenatchee Chamber of Commerce. The idea came from seeing a similar guide to the Methow Valley, developed by the Methow Conservancy. Wenatchee Naturalist founder and CDLT Conservation Fellow, Susan Ballinger, served as the project’s lead researcher. Local photographers John Marshall and Diane Sandborn generously shared their photos for the guide.
