[The Leave No Trace Center for Outdoor Ethics (LNT) is a national organization with a mission to protects the outdoors by teaching and inspiring people to enjoy it responsibly. Their vision is to sustain healthy, vibrant lands for all people to enjoy, now and into the future. Every person who ventures outside puts Leave No Trace practices into action.
Visit the Leave No Trace Center YouTube channel to watch clever and entertaining short videos about best practices for all ages. Check out this one that introduces the Authority of the Resource Technique -an effective way for all of us to use to initiate a friendly conversation that places no blame, keeps a conversation non-confrontational, and focuses on the how to improve our impact on the natural world. By standing shoulder-to-shoulder, instead of a you-versus-them face to face encounter, a conversation can be positive for all.
I really like their idea to remember the Seven Principles using hand signals- great for children and adults alike!
Chelan-Douglas Land Trust and its Wenatchee Naturalist program are Proud Partners.
CDLT has customized the Leave No Trace Seven Principles to best fit our Wenatchee Foothills – termed “Front County” by LNT. Check out our poster, displayed at Wenatchee Foothills Trailhead Kiosks. Here’s a link to the LNT Frontcounty YouTube Video
